Sintered materials, glasses, and single crystals have been used as dosimeter materials. We are focusing on eutectics as novel dosimetric matrerials. Eutectic tends to have a lower melting point than each of the constituent materials, can be produced by a simple melting and solidification process, and may be superior to sintered bodies, glass, and single crystals in the manufacturing cost. We have been studying LiF/CaF2:Eu eutectics for the application of neutron scintillators, and we have a technical accumulation of preparation methods. In addition, LiF/CaF2: Eu, LiF/CaF2: Ce, and non-doped LiF/CaF2 eutectics have already been studied for dosimeter applications, but for these compositions, the lower limit of measurement is 0.1 mGy. In this study, we will report the results of preparing the LiF/CaF2:Tb eutectic and evaluating the dosimeter characteristics in anticipation of improvement in the lower limit of measurement.
