[19a-Z01-8] Development of teaching materials to understand the rotating magnetic field of AC motors

Sojun Masaki1, Yoshiaki Yoshida1 (1.Hiroshima Institute of Technology)

Keywords:AC motors, rotating magnetic field, synchronous motors

Rotating magnetic fields are an important concept in the principle of AC motors (synchronous motors and induction motors), but it is not easy for beginners to understand. Especially as the number of poles increases, the rotating magnetic field behavior becomes more complicated, and it is difficult to understand that the rotation speed is inversely proportional to the number of poles. In addition, commercially available AC motors have a high rotation speed and are not suitable for teaching materials to understand the principle. Therefore, we have developed teaching materials that help us understand the principles of AC motors.
