八戸高専は、2015年から4学期制を導入し、全学生が自主探究に取り組んでいる。しかし、今年度は新型コロナウイルス感染拡大のため、学校および学寮の運営に工夫が求められた。幸いにも八戸地域は年度当初、感染者が少なく、その対策を練る時間があった。本稿では、本校の特徴を活かしつつ、コロナ禍で工夫したことなどその対応について述べる。
