[19p-Z03-11] Continuous-Variable Random-Number Generator using Spectrally Equalized Differential ASE Light

Tatsuya Tomaru1 (1.Hitachi, R&D)

Keywords:random number, spontaneous emission, noise

Because interferometrically measured values of amplified-spontaneous-emission light reflect quantum fluctuations in phase space, they can be excellent continuous-variable random numbers. A problem is low-frequency noise in measuring systems. Although the noise can be eliminated by taking the difference between consecutive measured values, the spectrum is modulated owing to the process. For this reason, the spectrum was equalized by inverting the sign of difference data when they were odd, where sampling was performed digitally. The spectrally equalized measured values were evaluated by autocorrelation and the NIST SP800-22. The results show that they are ideal continuous-variable random numbers.
