[19p-Z03-12] Measurement of Interference of Two-Photon Number States in Asymmetric Young Interferometer
Keywords:Quantum photonics, Non-classical interference, Two-photon number state
The fringe spacing of the interference of two-photon number states in a Young interferometer is governed by the photonic de Broglie wavelength, which is defined from the total momentum of two photons according to the de Broglie relations, instead of by the classical wavelength. This attributes to the quantum-mechanical correlation between the phases of the electric fields at two photon detectors apart from each other. When the Young interferometer is asymmetric, i.e., the intensities of the superimposed lights are different, the interferometric visibility becomes a matter for consideration. In this case, it is necessary for quantum-mechanical consideration to take account of the light intensities of the two modes of the number states. For this purpose, there exist two objects to attribute the light intensities to, the state amplitudes and the electric field amplitudes. The selection of the objects, however, gives a difference in the interference profiles.
