[19p-Z05-3] Optical Fiber based Lean Angle Sensor

In this paper, an optical fiber based lean angle sensor is presented for the measurements of small tilt angles. Initially using a step index fiber, reflection based proximity sensor is developed and the response of the sensor was plotted. Latter at the maximum response region, the variation in photocurrent was measured with tilt angles. This sensor can be useful in the measurement of lean angles in automated machines for the precise alignment of tools and holding of objects.
