Previously, we have proposed an Erbium-doped fiber sigma laser (EDFσL) using a cascaded-chirped long period fiber grating (C-CLPG) and a Faraday rotator mirror (FRM) for temperature measurement. In this paper, the laser is applied to strain and bending sensing, and the lasing operation is investigated.
