The high Q factor of the microresonator enables the confinement of light to a small area and the enhancement of the interaction between light and matter inside the cavity. In this study, we fabricated a low-threshold microlaser by doping erbium ions to a microcavity. In addition, we propose a new method of fabricating a high-gain toroidal cavity by enlarging its diameter compared to the conventional erbium-doped microtoroid.
