In this study, we developed an optical-guiding crystal scintillator plate for radiation imaging applications. The plate consists of a bundle of optical-guiding crystal scintillator with a high refractive index of approximately 20 µm in diameter covered with a low refractive index glass layer of approximately 10 µm in thickness, and has an optical-guiding using total reflection due to the refractive index difference between the glass and the scintillator. The optical-guiding suppresses light scattering and is expected to realize X-ray imaging devices with higher sensitivity and resolution than conventional technologies.
