[20a-A102-5] Scintillation Properties of Nd-Doped Y3Al5O12 Oxide-Scintillators for the Decommissioning Monitoring System in the Nuclear Plant
Keywords:Single crystalline scintillator, long emission wavelength, gamma radiation detection
For the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, a gamma-ray scintillator with high light output and a long emission wavelength of over 600 nm are required to obtain sufficient sensitivity. Here, we focused on an Nd-doped Y3Al5O12 (YAG) scintillator, which is known as an oxide scintillator glowing with a wavelength of 900 nm, and we also co-doped Tb with a concentration of to increase absorption bands originating from Tb-O charge transfer. The Nd-doped YAG single crystals were grown by the Czochralski process and measured their radio-luminescence. The results showed the emission wavelength at peak intensity was approximately 890 nm, which achieved the emission goal
