In order to identify reactive species that are produced by plasma irradiation and are believed to induce beneficial effects, a novel measurement system was constructed to enable measurement of changes in the density distribution of short-lived reactive species in solution. In this study, to confirm the basic characteristics of the measurement system, ozone, which has a relatively long lifetime, was generated by a non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure radical source and its spatio-temporal distribution was measured in the gas and liquid phases. The measurement results showed that the absorbance was considerably lower in the liquid phase than in the gas phase. It was also confirmed that the ozone density decayed to below the detection limit in 90 seconds in the gas phase and 20 seconds in the liquid phase after the end of radical irradiation.
