▲ [20a-C106-4] Cathode Catalysts for Efficient ORR Electrochemistry from Cellulose Nanofibers from Ascidian Tunicates
Keywords:Marine biomass, carbon catalyst, oxygen reduction reaction
Electrocatalysts are essential for efficient functioning of energy devices. High cost, scarcity, and instability of platinum catalysts demand for sustainable alternatives. As marine biomass is extensively available, accessible, and recyclable, therefore, crystalline cellulose from marine biomass are ideal nanoarchitectures possessing the features of abundant surface-active sites, high conductivity, and fast mass transport channels which make them potential precursors for electrocatalysts. We prepared heteroatom doped carbon catalyst derived from marine biomass as excellent carbon feedstock. Simplistic approach, inexpensive precursors, and excellent oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalytic efficiency establish electro catalyst potential.
