Atmospheric-pressure low-temperature air plasma jet irradiation significantly inactivated the bacteria suspended in plant nutrient solutions without reducing nutrient concentrations in the solutions. The plasma irradiation time required to inactivate bacteria depended on the types of bacteria. Bacillus subtilis was inactivated in 20-30 s, while Staphylococcus aureus was inactivated in 7 min.
