△ [20p-A106-6] Dependence of treatment time using ambient-air glow plasma on lignin model compounds
Keywords:plasma, agriculture, bioethanol
We propose a degrading method of lignin using an atmospheric-pressure plasma for bioethanol production using biomass such as waste woods. we treated solutions containing lignin model compound (guaiacyglycerol-β-guaiacyl ether, GGE) using the ambient-air glow discharge (AAGD). Decomposition degree of GGE was estimated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The GGE decomposition using the AAGD for 10 min was compared with that of untreated GGE samples, resulting in approximately 65 % reduction. Moreover, from the HPLC results, it was found that the treatment significantly converts GGE into hydrophilic derivatives.
