[20p-A200-6] Optical properties and applications of h-BN toward 2.5-dimensional material science

Kenji Watanabe1, Takashi Taniguchi2 (1.NIMS, 2.MANA/NIMS)

Keywords:hexagonal boron nitride, exciton, luminescence

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has been used to "support" two-dimensional atomic layer materials as the substrate and capping layer materials since the early stage of graphene research. On the flip side, its optical properties also show unique properties derived from a layered crystal structure, and its application as a new functional material is attracting attention. In this presentation, we will deal with various optical properties, including the highly efficient ultraviolet exciton luminescence of h-BN, and discuss new application development toward 2.5-dimensional materials science.
