Random lasers have attracted much attention due to their potential applications in imaging, sensing and integrated devices. So far, various random lasers have been reported. However, most of them are exhibiting non-tunable properties that present a barrier for achieving dynamically reconfigurable random lasers. We are intensively studying optical trapping and assembling of colloidal particles at solution surface. Recently we demonstrated a 3-dimensional bulky assembly of 1 μm PS MPs together with a 20 μm PS MP template, which provides disordered structures aiding multiple scattering of the light. In this study, we propose a potential application of the disordered structures of the bulky assembly for optically reconfigurable random laser.
