Recently, the enhancement of the dielectric constant has been reported by a three-dimensionally (3D) ordered thick-film assembly of BaTiO3 (BT) cube-shaped nanocrystals (or nanocubes), which were synthesized by the hydrothermal method with surfactants. An attachment of nanocubes introduces a strained interface between each nanocube, and such an interface region might contribute to the enhancement of dielectrics. This contribution is referred to as interface engineering. Although the fabrication of nanocubes by surfactants act a significant role in morphology and size control, and dispersion of nanocubes, a direct attachment of each nanocube is hard to obtain due to the surfactant attached to the surface of nanocubes. Thus, in this study, the BT nanocubes by the solvothermal synthesis without surfactants were investigated. Furthermore, uniform BT nanocubes with dispersed nanocubes suspension for preparation of 3D ordered assemblies were studied.
