The creation of fundamental technologies for wireless-optical convergence is desired for next-generation terahertz communications, and this paper focuses on the materials and device technologies that are necessary for such convergence. For the research and development of terahertz communication technology, it is desirable to establish opportunities for interdisciplinary fusion where researchers specializing in these various technologies can collaborate.
