Keywords:metallic nanostructures, nonlinear optics, electron spill-out

Metallic nanostructures have attracted attention in the field of not only linear but also nonlinear optics. Very recently, it has been theoretically clarified that the electron spill-out on the surface of the nanostructures, with a sub-nm spatial scale, significantly contributes to the nonlinear optical responses. However, those previous studies have been limited to the systems that are either a 2D thin film or considerably small 3D nanostructure with a few nm size. Therefore, in our talk, we will clarify the nonlinear optical responses induced by the electron spill-outs that come from 5 to 25 nm of metallic nanostructures.
