Single crystal LaF3, which is widely used as a fluorine ion sensor element, is expensive to manufacture and difficult to miniaturize. Small sensor electrodes using polycrystalline LaF3 have been studied as an alternative to single crystal LaF3, there are no reports of polycrystal having higher sensor performance than a single crystal. The reason why the sensor performance of a single crystal is better than that of polycrystalline LaF3 has also not been clarified. This study investigates the differences between polycrystalline and single crystal LaF3 to improve polycrystalline electrodes' performance.
