Focusing cavity-resonator-integrated guided-mode resonance filter (F-CRIGF) consists of a thin-film optical waveguide and a surface grating. F-CRIGF shows narrowband retroreflection for an incident diverging wave from free space. This time, a F-CRIGF which extracts a part of the incident optical power into an external waveguide as a guided wave was designed and fabricated. An external cavity diode laser was constructed by the F-CRIGF and a gain chip. We measured a spectrum of laser oscillation and a power of the extracted guided wave, and demonstrated that the F-CRIGF serves both as laser mirror and waveguide input coupler.
