Energy-resolved neutron imaging employs detailed analysis of the energy-dependent neutron transmission to extract quantitative information on the macroscopic distribution of microscopic features of a sample. To carry out such measurements at the RADEN instrument of J-PARC, we utilize a pulsed neutron beam and time-resolved neutron imaging detectors to record the spatial distribution of the neutron transmission with neutron energy determined via time-of-flight. To better cope with the high-rate environment at J-PARC, we have developed the BµNID (micro-pixel-chamber-based neutron imaging detector with 10B converter). Built on our existing µNID platform, the BµNID consists of a gaseous time-projection-chamber with a Micro-Pixel Chamber (µPIC) two-dimensional, 400-µm pitch micropattern strip readout, coupled to FPGA-based readout electronics. In this presentation, we will discuss the commissioning of the BµNID, carried out from 2021, and lessons learned under real usage conditions.
