▲ [21a-C304-2] Formation of heterocavity by deposition of hexagonal boron nitride flake on photonic crystal waveguide
Keywords:photonic crystal, 2D material
Two-dimensional (2D) materials have garnered significant interest across many research disciplines for being a potential platform to study fundamental physical phenomena and also the tremendous prospects for future device applications. In these research efforts, the 2D materials will inevitably be coupled to photonic nanocavity structures to enhance light-matter interactions. The usual approach is to first fabricate the photonic nanocavity and then deposit a flake of 2D material onto it. Alternatively, the 2D materials can be used as the substrate on which the photonic nanocavities will be patterned. In this work, we propose the formation of a heterocavity by deposition of a flake of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) on a photonic crystal waveguide (PWG).
