Stokes vector receivers (SVRs) that can detect the polarization states of optical signals are expected to be low-cost and high-capacity receivers in future access networks and data centers. In this paper, we propose a novel metasurface-based surface-normal SVR and report on the successful high-speed self-coherent transmission using the fabricated device.
