In gas sensor measurements in which the concentration of a target gas species is low, only measurement results with a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be obtained. In this study, we analytically show that repetitive cycles of introducing a sample gas and a carrier gas can increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the result. We also demonstrate the improvement of the SNR in gas sensing measurements with membrane-type surface stress sensors (MSS).
