In this talk, the history of the studies in measurement informatics is described together with the basic framework of the measurement informatics associated with artificial olfactory sensing. In addition, some examples of new measurement and analysis breakthroughs that have been brought about so far in the field including the artificial olfactory sensing are presented. Moreover, the prospects of the artificial olfactory research are discussed.
