Over the past few years, fiber optic technology has exponentially grown as the demand for sensor and light signal transmission continues to increase. With these in mind, we worked out a host of all-fiber devices based on a concatenated multimode-single-mode-multimode (M-S-M) fiber structure aimed at a few potential applications in communication systems. We show that our device is versatile and can be utilized as a sensor as well as a gain-flattening filter (GFF). This M-S-M device can also work as a band rejection filter.
