Applied Physics to Control Cell Fate: Innovation by plasma science and biotechnology
Keywords:Cell fate, Non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma, Life science
It is well known that cells respond to external stimulations. Scientists have used various stimulations for creating valuable cells. In the Japan Society of Applied Physics, biotechnology is one of the attractive research themes. In the plasma science section, plasma is used to as a stimulation for cell, and promotion of cell proliferation and selected cell killing have been reported. In the sections of nanobiotechnology and biomedical engineering, various approaches have been applied to achieve detailed analysis from single cell to individual levels. What is the essence of external stimulation? How can we innovate technology of cell fate control? What is the future after innovation in cell fate control? This symposium invited researchers from life science, plasma science, bio-MEMS, and mechanical engineering. Cutting-edge researches are discussed for changing and directing cell fate.
