The effect of volume fractions of Ge on the thermoelectric properties in Ge/Ba8Ga16Si30 composites prepared by sintering a mixture of N-type Ge and Ba8Ga16Si30 pulverized by planetary ball milling was investigated. Compared to the bulk Ba8Ga16Si30, the Seebeck coefficient of Ge/Ba8Ga16Si30 increased in the low temperature range and the thermal conductivity decreased. This may be due to the interfacial scattering at the grain boundaries of the refined crystal grains.
