[21p-P18-24] Liquid crystal patterning with polar angle alignment upon irradiating ultraviolet light and grating device fabrication

By irradiating apolyimide alignment film with ultraviolet light using a photo mask to form regions with spatially different dosage,a technique to continuously and spatially control the polar orientation state of liquid crystal. Using this technique, a grating structure with a small diffraction angle of 0.045 ° but a diffraction efficiency of 93 % was successfully fabricated.
