We applied a DC electric field to a sample of solution containing dispersed gold-silica Janus particles (Au-SJP) sandwiched between upper and lower glass substrates, and focused on the changes in the swimming direction of Au-SJP and the swimming surface of Au-SJP (the plane facing in the direction of swimming) in response to the field.
As a method, we varied the functional group modification of the Au surface and the pH of the solvent.
As a result, we were able to control the swimming direction and surface of the migration by modifying PNIPAM-COOH on the Au surface. The swimming surface was also controlled by changing the pH of the solvent.
