The world semiconductor industry has been growing and its revenues has increased tenfold in the past 30 years. The product sales for electric, electronics and information products in Japan have been a considerable rate, about 12% of all Japan product sales, for 30 years. The market of semiconductor products is keep growing and there are increasing needs of new technologies and unlimited opportunities for the further growth. At the same time technologies are consistently evolving and the industrial structure keeps changing. In such circumstances what is the meaning of working in the semiconductor industry and eventually in the manufacturing industry as engineers? The speaker shares her considerations based on her experiences. Also, she shares her thoughts about working in the organization of diverse participants with the sense of mutual respect and inclusion. Good collaboration between academic societies and private companies is also discussed.
