[22a-B200-3] Innovative Thermoelectric Devices with Mechano-Thermal Functionalization

Junichiro Shiomi1 (1.Univ. of Tokyo)

Keywords:Thermoelectric generator, Mechano-Thermal Functionalization, Silicon

New functions combining mechanical and thermoelectric properties were added to thermoelectric power generation devices at the material level (using nanostructure and local strain inside the material to improve efficiency of abundant silicon materials) and device level (making power generation modules ultra-flexible without sacrificing thermoelectric performance, optimizing thermal impedance matching) for applications such as stand-alone power sources for IoT sensors. This significantly improves cost-effectiveness, ease of installation onto complex heat sources, and heat recovery.
