Spatial distribution of thermal conductivity of a self-assembled monolayers (SAM) was investigated using SThM. A two-component SAM with 1 μm wide linear patterns consisting of thiol-substituted tripodal and bipodal triptycene molecules were fabricated on Au(111) by microcontact printing. Thermal conductivity imaging of the surface patterns using SThM reveals that the SAM regions composed of the tripodal and bipodal triptycene molecules exhibit different thermal conductivity depending on the molecule-metal interface structure.
