Surface-normal high speed optical modulator is required for the 2D applications like massively parallel optical communication and 2D imaging. However, problems like fabrication errors and difficulties in arranging electrodes prevent surface-normal optical modulator from forming 2D array. In this presentation, I propose back-illuminated, surface-normal plasmonic modulator with electro-optic polymer which is suitable for large scale 2D array and report the validity of the device by numerical analysis.
