Accurate treatment planning is essential not only for high-precision proton therapy but also for proton therapy researches based on small animals to precisely deliver proton dose in vary small target volumes. In this study, we derived relative stopping powers (RSP) used in the treatment planning for tissue-equivalent and water-equivalent phantoms with known constituent elements using proton CT (pCT) at 73.65 MeV, which is dedicated to proton irradiation of small animals, and evaluated RSP accuracy and the advantages of the low-energy pCT over XCT.
