The iron chalcogenide superconductor FeSe has attracted much attention for Tc enhancement up to 65 K in a monolayer film on SrTiO3, which is attributed to interfacial effects between FeSe and STO. We have tried to realize high Tc superconductivity in ultrathin films of FeSe/STO using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), however, had not been successful because of degradation of the films by air exposure. In this work, we report the successful realization of high Tc superconductivity in ultrathin FeSe/STO using PLD, owing to deposition of protection layer and preventing degradation of films.
