It is known that radicals generated by the radiolysis of liquid water are involved in the radiation damage of biomolecules. In this study, we describe the relationship between radical generation and the energy-imparted structure in the ion track for the radiolysis of liquid water by an ion beam of high LET radiation. In the presentation, we will discuss the secondary electron energy that contributes to radical generation.
