Optical interferometry using ultrashort pulses enables highly functional measurement utilizing nonlinear optics, and selectivity in time and space. In such structural and tomographic measurements, very weak signal is ruined in very strong surface-reflected background, resulting in dynamic range degradation caused by saturation of the detector. To solve this, we developed a method for broadband active background signal cancelling using destructive interference with antiphase pulses by use of carrier-envelope phase control of optical frequency comb, and applied it to tomographic measurements.
