Recently it was reported that L3 photonic crystal nanocavity which Q-factor has been increased by the scaling up the hole-position modulation can have a further higher Q-factor by additional hole radius modulation. Here we report the detail study of automated hole-radius and hole-position optimization of L3 nanocavity with changing the holes to be modulated. By expanding the scale of the modulation, we obtained several times higher Q-values in L3 nanocavities having different r/a values by adding radius modulation.
