We demonstrated an MO switch driven by a 3.5 Vpp switching signal up to 5 GHz. To the best of our knowledge, this is the fastest response of an MO switch. The switch used a coplanar electrode to apply a magnetic field transverse to a MZI arms in the anti-parallel direction together with an external static magnetic field in the longitudinal direction to assist the magnetization reversal of Ce:YIG. Without the external static magnetic field from the permanent magnet, measured frequency was limited up to 2.5 GHz. With the external static magnetic field, we were able to observe the waveform up to 5 GHz where the rise time of optical signal was less than 100 ps.
