Keywords:Silicon nano particle, Lithium ion battery, electorode material

Lithium-ion battery electrodes based on silicon nanostructures have been actively studied. While, electrodes are usually formed by silicon nanostructures larger than 50 nm because extremely small nanostructure size makes the properties unstable. Our group has developed colloidal silicon nanoparticles with diameters of less than 10 nm. We report the results of electrode fabrication, charge-discharge property measurement, and electrode surface structure evaluation for the application of these particles to the negative electrode material of lithium-ion batteries.
