We attempted designing and demonstrating a direct-coupled single-mode fiber ring resonator where a fiber cantilever-beam-deflection transducer is inserted. This new design of the resonator sensor operates on the principle of fiber-to-fiber misalignment caused by applying an external electric field while observing the corresponding changes in the resonance conditions.
