La-doped mesoporous TiO2 was synthesized by the solvothermal synthesis method with varying concentrations. The XPS analysis of La 4s spectra showed the presence of lanthanum in all the doped samples. The XRD confirms the presence of the anatase phase in all the samples with a single peak of brookite. The FESEM images of all the samples show mesoporous morphology. It was shown in FESEM analysis that Lanthanum was covering the surface of mesospheres. In theoretical calculations, it was observed that the presence of Oxygen vacancy effects the conduction band edge whereas the absence of Oxygen vacancy affects the valence band edge when Lanthanum is doped.
