△ [23p-C105-11] Lattice Orientation Characteristics of Cholesteric Blue Phase II induced by Orientationally Frustrated Surface Patterns
Keywords:Liquid crystal, Cholesteric blue phase, Pattern alignment
We have investigated the lattice orientation characteristics of Cholesteric Blue Phase II (BPII) induced by micro-patterned surfaces. Our results show that not only the orientation of liquid crystal molecules along the easy axis but also the lattice distortion plays an important role in the local orientation of the BPII lattice. We also demonstrated for the first time the frustrated orientation of the BPII lattice induced by elastic frustration between adjacent pattern regions with different easy axis directions.
