In the preparation of ZnS:Cu phosphors for dispersed EL devices, the highly Cu+ activation and high-density CuxS formation as carrier source have been attempted. ZnS: Cu nanophosphor particles and CuxS nanoparticles are stirred in a solution to fix CuxS around ZnS:Cu. With the addition of CuxS nanoparticles, an increase of the PL direct excitation band due to Cu+ and a significant increase in the amount of charge in the EL element were confirmed, resulting in improvement of the EL luminance.
