The proton-conducting polymer electrolyte membrane, which is applied to polymer electrolyte fuel cells, is drawing attention as one of the solid-state ionics materials. Since the development of Nafion, new electrolyte membranes have been developed by controlling the molecular arrangement of polymers and adding metal organic structures and inorganic nanoparticles to overcome the performance of Nafion. In this study, we fabricated a novel type of electrolyte membrane based on functionalized particles, which are different from conventional polymer-based electrolyte membranes. The proposed processes of synthesizing the functionalized filler of core-shell type polymer coated particles and fabricating the filler-filled membranes proceed with very simple methods at low cost.
