△ [22a-E307-3] Selective Recognition of Low-molecular-weight Gases by Impedance Measurement of Two-terminal Electrochemical Impedance Sensors based on Ionic Liquids
Keywords:ionic liquid, gas sensor, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
Ionic liquids are expected to be applied as electrochemical sensors due to their thermal and electrochemical stability. However, there are few reports on their selectivity in air between low-molecular-weight gases such as those contained in human breath. We found that the impedance of ionic liquids changes under small amounts of low-molecular-weight gases in air, and that the change depends on the frequency of the applied bias. Especially, we confirmed that acetone and ethanol can be selectively detected against hydrogen by adjusting the frequency.
