[22a-P01-6] Label-free detection of cell metabolites using photonic crystals

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is involved in tumorigenesis and metastasis, and the detection and quantification of IL-6 are expected to be applied to the field of drug discovery. However, the existing assay method (ELISA) requires complicated operations such as labeling. Photonic crystal (PhC) is dielectric optical element with periodic refractive index distribution, and is expected to be applied to label-free sensor, because PhC exhibit a peak wavelength shift in response to changes in the surface refractive index. In this study, we report on the label-free detection and quantification of IL-6 using TiO2 PhC.
