High-efficiency solar cells are very attractive for creating clean energy society based on renewable energy. Because the state-of-the-art of the single-jinction solar cells is approaching the Shockley-Queisser limit (32-33%), tandem solar cells by effective utilization of solar spectrum have higher efficiency potential with 36.6%, 44%, 48.8%, 50.4% and 51.4% for 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-junction solar cells. This paper presents analytical results for high-effiency potential of II-VI compounds, chalcopyrite and kesterite tandem solar cells.
